Dr. Qiang Liang, associate professor of Business School, has published his research on Asia Pacific Journal of Management (APJM), which is indexed in SSCI. His published article, entitled “How does family involvement affect innovation in China?”, now is available as 'Online First' on SpringerLink:

About this paper:
Drawing from agency theoretical analysis on the structure of boards of directors and management teams and along with the resource-based view, this paper advance the novel proposition that what matters in the innovation process is thetype of family involvement, not involvement per se. Further, this paper takes the empirical study on a sample of 102 listed family firms in China from 2005to 2007, and the results suggest that family involvement in boards tends to strengthen the positive relationship between R&D investment and innovation performance, whereas family involvement in management teams tends to weaken this positive relationship. Findings of this research have some important managerial implications, which address the impact of family involvement on innovation strategies in family firms.
